Keynote Speakers
IACC is an biannual colloquium at Universidad Autónoma de Baja California in México.
Since 2020, the International Applied Complexity Colloquium, organized by the Complexity Studies Center at Universidad Autónoma de Baja California in México, has been a biannual international meeting for the applied complexity binational USA-Mexico research community.
Organizing committee:
- Chair: Dr. Ricardo F. Rosales-Cisneros, UABC, México.
- Co-chair: Dr. Manuel Castañón-Puga, UABC, México.
Event Focus
Complex Systems Science
The new Science of Complex Systems provides radical new ways of understanding the physical, biological, ecological, and social universe. In all domains, complex systems are studied through increasingly large quantities of data, stimulating revolutionary scientific breakthroughs. Also, many new and fundamental theoretical questions occur across the domains of physical and human science, making it essential to develop the new Science of Complex Systems in an interdisciplinary way.
Computational modeling
The use of mathematics, statistics, physics and computer science to study the mechanism and behavior of complex systems by computer simulation. A computational model contains numerous variables that characterize the system being studied. Simulation is done by adjusting these variables and observing how the changes affect the outcomes predicted by the model.
Management and Applications of Complex Systems
Complex Systems occur in an infinite variety of problems, not only in the realm of physical sciences and engineering, but encompassing fields as diverse as economy, the environment, humanities, social and political sciences. The high level of dynamics of such systems, which is usually expressed through the frequent occurrence of unpredictable disruptive events, makes conventional optimizers, batch schedulers and resource planning systems unworkable.
